For the last few months I have become really interested in new textile designers and the one that I came across this week was Sindiso Khumalo, she’s a South African designer originally from an architectural background, she moved to London to complete an MA in textiles at St Martins. Her designs are a combination of African inspired prints with simple construction. The bright and bold prints make the designs stand out and personally I love them!
This month I am drawing inspiration for my fashion designs from textile printers, Mary Katrantzou is definitely one to watch, her designs are amazing!
Mary did a collaboration with Topshop and her designs were so well liked one dress in particular was seen on many celebrities including Chloe Green and Alesha Dixon.
Mary draws her inspiration from icons of luxury and objects from art or design that a woman would not be able to wear if it were real. Mary has based her collections on perfume bottles, artisan blown glass, eighteenth century society paintings, and interiors while keeping the printed image central to her aesthetic
